Webmin เป็นเว็บโปรแกรมประเภท Web-based
application ที่ช่วยในการจัดการระบบในระบบปฏิบัติการต่าง ๆ ในตระกูลยูนิกซ์ โดยการใช้จะทำผ่านเว็บเบราว์เซอร์เช่น Internet Explorer
ส่วนใหญ่ของ Webmin
พัฒนาด้วยภาษาเพิร์ล และทำงานร่วมกับเว็บเซิร์ฟเวอร์ มักใช้ TCP
พอร์ตหมายเลข 10000 ในการติดต่อ และสามารถใช้โปรโตคอล SSL ถ้ามีโปรแกรม OpenSSL ติดตั้งไว้แล้ว
โครงสร้างภายในเป็นลักษณะโมดูล
ซึ่งมีส่วนติดต่อไปยังไฟล์เก็บค่า config และอีกส่วนไปยังเซิร์ฟเวอร์ webmin โครงสร้างนี้มีความยืดหยุ่น
ผู้ที่สนใจสามารถเพิ่มเติมขีดความสามารถใหม่ โดยการเขียน plugin เพิ่มเองได้

เมื่อเริ่มต้นติดตั้ง
ubuntu 11.04
ทำการแก้ไขไฟล์
/etc/apt/sources.list
sudo vi /etc/apt/sources.list หรือ
sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list
ทำการเพิ่มบรรทัดนี้เข้าไป
เป็นการเพิ่มแหล่งดาวน์โหลด webmin
deb http://download.webmin.com/download/repository sarge contrib
deb http://webmin.mirror.somersettechsolutions.co.uk/repository sarge contrib
Save and exit the file
Now you need to import GPG key
wget http://www.webmin.com/jcameron-key.asc
sudo apt-key add jcameron-key.asc
Update the source list
sudo apt-get update
Install webmin
sudo apt-get install webmin
